Prior to discovering Laserfiche, Cohen Asset Management used a combination of onsite boxes and offsite storage.
“We had a lot of cabinets and tons of boxes,” Sarmiento said. “We had 20 boxes for Accounts Payable alone.”

“The hardest part was climbing up and getting the boxes down and searching through it. It would take at least ten minutes,” Sarmiento said.
For things in offsite storage, the minimum wait was at least 3-4 hours – not to mention the premium they paid for same-day delivery. Regular delivery took one to two days.
Now, things happen instantly. If an auditor needs something, instead of ordering the box and waiting for the physical file to be delivered, employees can instantly pull the file up in Laserfiche, drag it into an email and send it. Sarmiento said both clients and vendors have noticed the improved speed.
“People have commented, ‘Wow! That was really quick!’ and we say ‘Yeah, that’s because of our system.’ Things used to take a week or two, but now they can request things and have it one minute later,” Sarmiento said. “When our vendors call us, instead of writing down their message and getting back to them, we can give them real-time information by going through and searching in Laserfiche.”
Cohen Asset Management moved to a new office in 2007, shortly after implementing Laserfiche. They moved to a larger space, but not to accommodate boxes or cabinets. Laserfiche made it possible for employees to move their computers and office furniture and immediately begin working again.
“We didn’t have to bring our cabinets or order any new storage equipment,” Sarmiento said. “I organized everything from the design of the new space to our furniture and phones and Internet, and it was much easier for me to do all of that because I had everything in Laserfiche.”
