Adjamian Affiliated Satisfies Outback Steakhouse’s Hunger for Technology, Savings, Says Convenience Factor is “10 out of 10”
“We’re saving $20,000+ per year, easy.” – George Haddad, IT Manager
The T-Bird Restaurant Group, which operates 63 Outback Steakhouse franchises in California, was still using microfiche to store their files as of 2008. With help from Adjamian Affiliated and Laserfiche, they’re now saving up to $30,000 per year.
La Jolla, CA — May 23, 2011 – If you’ve enjoyed a Bloomin’ Onion on the West Coast recently, it’s probably thanks to the T-Bird Restaurant group. They manage more than 60 Outback Steakhouse franchise locations throughout the state of California. While their focus was on delivering mouth watering dishes, T-Bird Restaurant Group’s corporate offices were hungry for some new technology: They were still putting their invoices and other business documents onto microfiche and storing it in canisters.
“Everything was sent offsite and would be scanned onto microfilm,” said George Haddad, the IT manager for T-Bird Restaurant Group. “If any of our people had to pull something, they basically had an index folder, and then they had to find the right tape and canister, load it up and play it to do a search.”
Searching for a single invoice could take up to 15 minutes – if you had the right canister the first time — otherwise, it could take hours or even days. Haddad decided it was time to make the leap to digital. He researched a number of electronic document management solutions. Vendors came and demonstrated their products for Haddad and the entire finance & accounting staff.
“I wanted them to see the actual product, how it worked and looked, and the feel of it,” Haddad said. “They all agreed that Laserfiche was definitely the friendliest, easiest and just had a nice interface.”
As a group, they ultimately chose Adjamian Affiliated and Laserfiche to serve the company’s needs. Now, Haddad manages Laserfiche for about 20 users. He said he realized the benefit of it almost immediately, calling it “smooth and speedy.”
Instead of sending all documents to a microfilm processing center, they just scan them into Laserfiche directly and can access invoices and other documents from their work stations. It saves both time and money.
“I think we probably saved, literally, about $25,000-$30,000 a year for the film,” Haddad said. “We had the initial capital expenditure of the hardware and the software (for Laserfiche). So we’re saving $20,000 per year, easy.”
The company also saves a few hundred dollars every month now that they’ve been able to get rid of the storage facility they had for the microfilm. They’re saving space within their office, and Haddad said he plans to utilize Laserfiche for other departments in the near future. Overall, he rated the convenience factor of both Laserfiche and working with Adjamian Affiliated a 10 out of 10!
Adjamian Affiliated President and Founder Allen Adjamian said he was very pleased with how seamlessly the T-Bird Restaurant Group made the transition to digital.
“It’s always great to see a company go from an outdated technology to an electronic document management system like Laserfiche smoothly. They are a pleasure to work with, and I’m sure their company will continue to reap the benefits,” Adjamian said.
